(MA), English Language (BAHons), EFL/ESL (Dipl),

enabled him to teach English at senior level across
the range, while his broad socio-cultural skills
and experience have stood him in good stead in
teaching a variety of courses to juniors, and
to those physically challenged and less privileged.
Mr D'Souza's knowledge of Latin and his fluency
with Italian -because of his long stays in Italy-have
also helped him understand some spoken Spanish
and French. His placements in India have made
him comfortable with spoken Hindi, Bengali, Konkani
and Khasi, while his long years in Tanzania have
also enabled him to handle Swahili, one of Africa's
leading languages.
In his teaching career, Mr D'Souza has also been
at the forefront of co-curricular activities.
He ran his own drama club in Qatar where he performed
his own plays and musicals. In Dubai he was the
Local Representative for Trinity College of Music
exams, where he also taught instrumental music
privately. Here he was also the Editor of the
School Magazine for three years. Earlier in his
career, in India, in school and in college, he
conducted school orchestras and choirs (western
music) for several years. When Head of School
in Kolkata, his school was outstanding not only
in cricket, football and table tennis, but also
in sports days, cultural events and talent quests.
In the UK in addition to teaching ESL for several
years -in mainstream teaching as well as at summer
school-- and Communication and Key Skills for
Business Studies and Health & Social Care
groups, Mr D'Souza has recently designed quantified
Initial Assessments which have now become standard
practice for the college where he worked. While
he strives to keep pace with the developments
and challenges of intelligent adult living, Mr
D'Souza constantly keeps his feet firmly on the
ground tuned to the needs and demands of today's
dynamic modern youth. Mr D'Souza believes he developed
his education-friendly approach from his long
experience with the Don Bosco International Education
society, his profound respect for cultures from
his many years in India, his constant adaptability
to learning conditions from his teaching in the
Gulf, his student-centred tolerance from his Tanzania
experience, and his passion for educational excellence
from the British system of education.
